A deliciously smooth and creamy cheese. Godminster Vintage Organic Cheddar is a multi-award-winning cheddar, covered in distinctive burgundy wax. Moreover, it is available as a round truckle.
The cheddar is made to a traditional 90-year-old recipe and matured for up to 12 months. At that point, we select the very best cheese to be made into one of our award-winning truckles. It has a rich depth of flavour with a smooth texture. However it contains no artificial preservatives, and they are suitable for vegetarians.
The Godminster Vintage Organic Cheddar is sealed in a distinctive burgundy wax that keeps our cheese fresher and creamier for longer. We use a food-grade paraffin wax, certified by the Soil Association, removing the need for plastic packaging. This truckle comes packaged in an attractive gift box made from recycled cardboard. The box is therefore also recyclable.
Delicious on its own or as part of the perfect cheeseboard, Godminster cheddar is also a versatile ingredient in many showstopping recipes.
History of Godminster Vintage Organic Cheddar
Godminster was born of a passion for organic farming and wildlife conservation. Ever since Richard Hollingbery bought Godminster Farm in 1993, he and his team have been pursuing an environmentally friendly and ethical approach to farming. Above all, their approach incorporates the organic principles to the land and the livestock.
There have been people living and working the land at Godminster, in Bruton, Somerset, for over 5 centuries. Records show that there has been a dairy farm here for over 100 years. Since Richard bought the 600-acre farm, there have been projects for woodland creation and to support wildlife. In addition, Godminster Cheddar has become an integral business in Bruton and part of the renaissance of the town.
